A big THANK YOU to our sponsors for the One Room Challenge who made this post possible.  Home Pop for the chic wingback tufted bed; Tuft and Needle for providing the best mattress I have ever felt; and Garnet Hill for providing such beautiful and luxurious bedding that any guest would enjoy. Of course, as thankful as I am to receive these items my opinions about the product are my own ♥️

Um... time sure does fly when you're having fun! We are on week 5 of the 6 week One Room Challenge and I can already see the finish line! Let me give you a recap of the previous 4 posts in case you missed them.

Week 4: Putting up wallpaper and painting the room

This week I'm going to show you what it takes to create the comfiest, coziest bed ever!

When it comes to the bedroom, there's nothing more important than the bed, am I right? It's where you start and end your day so crawling into it should feel like a treat.  That means that the details in your bed and bedding are important. Scratchy sheets, lumpy flat pillows and a squeaky bed is a subconscious reminder that you need some self-care! I mean, that's how I see it at least.

Have you EVER tried out a foam mattress?? This is a first for me and I have been converted! I've always had traditional spring mattresses with pillow tops and they've been fine but I have NEVER felt anything like this Tuft & Needle mattress.   Laying on the foam mattress feels soft  and plush but at the same time supportive. Like, when I lay on it, the rest of the mattress doesn't move or cave in which means that when I move I don't disturb the person next to me. Plus, the Tuft & Needle mattress is designed so that it pulls excess body heat away from your body and towards the edges of the bed! The best part is their mattresses are very affordable which means that eventually I will be switching out the rest of our coil mattresses to Tuft & Needle mattresses :)

Soft but supportive at the same time, kinda like me lol. Tuft  and Needle has 3 different options of mattresses. Check them out HERE.
Apart from the mattress you gotta invest in some decent-quality bedding. I highly recommend you only use bedding that has little or no synthetic fibers. Fabrics made of cotton, wool and linen are all natural fibers that are breathable and soft to the touch. When purchasing bedding, take a look at what it's made out of. Usually "value-priced" bedding is made out of a blend of polyester and cotton. Do you know what polyester is made out of? It's made out of plastic 😣 and what does plastic do with heat and moisture..? It traps it! So why would anyone want that in their bedding?

Organic cotton, Linen sheets and a silk blanket provides warmth and breathability. All from Garnet Hill

A secret to a cozy bed is to layer your bedding instead of using, for example -a sheet and a really warm, heavy blanket. That causes the I'm cold, now I'm hot...now I'm cold cycle where you keep covering and uncovering yourself all night long. To regulate your temperature and also give you more options, choose lightweight, breathable sheets and blankets that provide warmth when layered together, but also helps to keep you cool by just pulling back one layer .

The first two layers of a bed will be the sheets. One fitted sheet which protects your mattress and over that you have your flat sheet. When you make your bed, you want to put the flat sheet RIGHT SIDE DOWN so that the seams are exposed.

Make sure to pull the flat sheet all the way up to the top of the bed
After the sheets comes the blanket!

This silk blend blanket  is RIDICULOUSLY SOFT! My son and I are crazy about it!
And after the blanket I lay a coverlet (or quilt)...

100% cotton "Dream Quilt" in Titanium
and tuck everything in creating hospital corners.
Then I go to the top of the bed, grab all my layers evenly and neatly fold everything over all at once. Folding your layers over makes getting into bed a little easier.

When I'm feeling extra I like to iron my sheets and pillow cases. It makes the whole bed presentation look soooo good! Usually I only iron the part of the sheet that is folded over 😉 but like I said, only when I want to be a little extra.

You can stop here with the bedding (aside from the pillows which I will get to in a minute)  but I think a bed needs to look puffy, like a cloud you wanna just jump in! So I ALWAYS add a big, puffy, duvet folded at the foot of the bed. Not only does a duvet make the bed look luxurious, it also provides the ultimate warmth for those really cold nights.  I chose to go with Garnet Hill's Signature European White Down Comforter. It comes in 3 weights; light, medium and winter. It's so soft and puffy! I covered the comforter with the duvet cover that matches the sheets

You gotta fluff up the duvet first and then gently fold it into thirds at the foot of your bed to make it look extra puffy.

And last but not least, the pillows!

You guys might think that since I am a Decorator that I love to go crazy with the bed pillows. Well, I actually don't. I don't understand why we go to all this trouble to put a bunch of pillows on the bed, only to throw them on the floor and then having to look at them piled up a corner of the room, LOL.   Not a fan! I'd rather create a cozy looking bed by layering the bedding instead of piling on pillows that I can't use. I mean, I get it, it looks beautiful but it's just something I decide not to do. If you like it, go ahead! You do you! LOL!

A combination of down-filled pillows and down-alternative pillows gives softness and support.

I opt for 4 standard size pillows for a queen bed and maybe ONE decorative pillow in the front. (Which I am patiently waiting for. Should be arriving tomorrow!) That's it! The pillow I actually sleep on gets the regular, standard pillow case (in this bed it's the striped ones) and over those pillows I put standard size pillows covered in shams. (Shams are pillowcases that close in the back and usually look more decorative). The pillows with the shams are used to hide the pillowcases that we lay our heads on every night since they can get very wrinkled and let's face it, they can get dirty pretty quick!

"Cottage Stripe" linen bedding and duvet cover

And there you have it! My tips on creating the coziest bed ever! My guests will never want to leave!!

Opting for an upholstered headboard makes laying in bed to read a book more comfortable. This tufted wingback bed is from HomePop
