Christmas Home Tour - Getting Our Place Ready for Holiday Guests

The best thing about the holidays is getting together with friends and family to have a great time. I know that sometimes though, if you're the one hosting that holiday party you can't help but stress a little, am I right? It could just be who I am, but I really think about the ambiance of my home when people come over. The funny thing is, to have a good time all people really need is good food, good drinks and good conversation! But it definitely doesn't hurt to tidy up a bit and maybe add some thoughtful touches throughout the house to keep people in the Christmas spirit 🎅

Today we're going to tour a few areas of my home where I add some simple Christmas decor when I host a holiday party. These easy and low cost ideas are definitely something anyone can do in their home. AND the ideas don't end here. This post is part of "Holiday Gatherings" -a blog hop where 8 talented decor bloggers are opening up their beautiful homes to us so we can take a peek and see how they get their homes ready for their holiday parties. I'll share who they all are at the end of this post.

One of the things I like to do for holiday parties is to have board games out for people to play. The popular choices in my family are Jenga, cards and Chess. Oh, and also Monopoly but that one can get messy and plus it takes FOREVER to finish a game, LOL. I've slowly collected quite a few wooden board games that happen to be aesthetically pleasing so that if you do leave them out, they almost look like decor!

I also like to add holiday candies to my coffee table in case the guests could use an after-dinner mint😉

Another easy thing you can do to bring in the Christmas spirit to your holiday party is to add winter greenery around the house in the form of garlands and branches. You can use simple, unadorned pine branches or if you're more of a maximalist, you can add ribbons, lights and ornaments.

I get a lot of questions about my boxwood garland. It is faux and I use 3 strands per swag to make it look full. You can find the garland  HERE.

I'm still so crazy about how my tabletop tree turned out! It's perfect for a modestly-sized home like ours💚.

Don't forget about adding a bit of greenery in unexpected places, too. A lot of times our guests like to wander upstairs so I like to include some holiday decor in the bedrooms too.

Green Velvet bedding from Serena and Lily Black monogrammed duvet from Crane and Canopy. Leopard-print pillow from Target.

And of course, can't forget about the guest bedroom 😊. Just a simple garland and a couple of stockings hung on the fireplace do the trick.

Now that my house is pretty much party- ready, all I have to think about is ...what the heck we are going to do about dinner! Because seriously, the food is THE most important thing at a party! Thank goodness my wife knows how to cook or else we'd be ordering pizza!

Thanks so much for visiting the blog! I always appreciate comments so let me know that you visited! Be sure to also visit the homes of these talented bloggers and see what they do to get their homes ready for their holiday parties. I have them linked below!
