Another Facebook Marketplace Find: A Vintage Rattan Headboard!

I recently gave my daughter's bedroom a much needed makeover using items that I came across that would 1. work in the space and 2. happen to be a great deal. I collected these items for about 9 months before I actually started on her room. One of the things I never replaced was her headboard. I never found anything I loved and I felt that the headboard she already had was fine. Seven months later, I happen to come across a beautiful vintage rattan headboard while searching for baskets in Facebook Marketplace. As soon as I saw it I knew I HAD to have it.

The rattan headboard was listed for $100 which really is a fantastic deal! But my cheap-ass wanted to get an even BETTER deal. Why? Because I really didn't need a headboard and when something is a "want" and not a "need" I tend to try and get the best deal possible. Plus, it's normal to haggle on Facebook Marketplace so I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask...

I came in with an embarrassingly low ball offer of $50 and the seller immediately responded (a good sign) but she denied my offer and wrote back that she was firm with the $100 asking price.

I started to get nervous. I know $100 isn't a lot for a vintage headboard especially for one that I loved but still. $100 is $100 and I don't really need to be spending a damn dime on things I don't really need right now!

I countered with a $70 offer and waited... no reply.

After a couple of hours I couldn't take it anymore! The thought of possibly not having it because I was trying to save $30 drove me bananas! AYAYAY! So I caved and offered to pay the full asking price and same-day pickup and now that beautiful vintage headboard is in my daughter's room looking oh-so stylish!

P.S. the lady who sold me the headboard was so kind even though my offer was soooo bad 🙈. I'm happy she at least responded to me! (Thanks Crystal Ann 💚) Oh, and she has a bunch of other vintage stuff she's selling on Facebook Marketplace, too. Check her out HERE if you're in San Diego.

So what do you think of the new headboard? Nice, huh? By the way, I still have the beige upholstered headboard and its for sale, locally! Let me know if you're interested :)

-'Till next time!
