Blogger Summer Home Tour

We are now in the middle of summer! The weather is warm and things are starting to feel just a tad "beachy" around here. I have already shared with you my summer tablescapes and dining room (if you want to check out my summer dining room, click HERE) and now (finally) it's time to share my updated living room for summer.

I was asked by my friend Janine -blogger at Happy Happy Nester, to participate in a fun, summer tour party with some of my favorite bloggers! I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to not only share a few changes I made in the living room; but also see some summer decor ideas that my blogger friends are doing in their homes. These tours are always so much fun! If you are visiting from my good friend Amie's blog, MemeHill I welcome you! I appreciate you stopping by! Don't forget to register your email with me to get my posts delivered to your inbox :)

By the way... at the end of this post I will share links to everyone in the summer home tour so you can check them all out.

So... here we go!

During the summer months, I like to stick with neutral earth tones and really focus on texture. I switched my glass-top coffee table for a pair of leather ottomans that I found at Target many, many moons ago. I added texture to them by placing a mexican falsa blanket on one, and a woven tray on the other.

I tucked in pieces of coral and a few sea urchins to add that "beachy" summer vibe.

Another small change that I made to my living room was to switch up the mirror over my mantel to a rattan-framed mirror that was hanging in my bedroom. (I love shopping my own home). If you want to see the mirror that was on there before, click HERE!

I also switched up the art and added a picture I took of my kids at the beach :)

HERE'S A TIP!

For instant art; snap a pic using your camera (or phone, believe it or not I snapped the beach pic with my phone) and order a large print through Walgreens Photo. You can pick up your print in a couple of hours and it doesn't cost much either! Frame it in an inexpensive, matted frame and bam! You have yourself an original piece of art!

So enough reading for now. I'll give you some time to look around...

I want to leave you with some advice on how to incorporate a summer look in your home. Here are 5 of my favorite tips!

1. SHOP YOUR HOME BEFORE BUYING ANYTHING!

I spent zero dollars creating a new summer look in my living room by re-purposing everything.

2. USE NATURAL MATERIALS LIKE RATTAN AND WICKER FOR A SUMMER LOOK.

Like I did with the tray, vase and other accessories.

3. LIGHTEN YOUR COLOR PALETTE AND USE NEUTRALS.

You can achieve this by switching your art and pillows.

4. ADD "BEACHY" ELEMENTS LIKE SEA SHELLS TO YOUR DECOR.

And make sure you try and group collections together instead of spreading them out all over.

5. OPEN UP THOSE WINDOWS AND LET SOME FRESH AIR INTO YOUR HOME!

Nothing energizes a space like fresh air and sunshine!

Thanks again for reading along and visiting my humble little home. Be sure to visit the next blogger in this summer home tour, which is my amazing generous and talented friend, Amy, from"Crazy Chic Design". I assure you that you will love her and her beautiful home.

And here is the lineup of all my blogger friends that are showing off their summer decor in this home tour!
