Primary Bedroom Halloween Decor

Here are my rules for Halloween decorating in my home:

KEEP IT SIMPLE BUT MAKE AN IMPACT

STICK WITH A THEME/COLOR SCHEME

ACCENTUATE YOUR SURROUNDINGS

ABSOLUTELY NO GORE

In other words, it's gotta be very demure, very mindful...

This is especially true when I'm decorating a bedroom because imagine trying to go to sleep with some creepy clown hanging out next to your bed! No thanks!

My ghost friend that is on top of our mantel is making his 3rd debut this year. When I first created it 3 years ago, these ghosts weren't a "thing". You really couldn't find any ghosts on the shelves of your favorite stores so I had to make mine. Honestly I think my DIY version looks so much better than any of the ghosts that I've seen in stores. Creating your own ghost is pretty easy and what will set it apart is the fabric that you use. I used and old linen sheet to create mine. The linen fabric is sheer enough to see the glow and eyes underneath and also gives good texture.

WHAT YOU NEED TO CREATE A TABLETOP GHOST

  • tall cloche, at least 12" tall.
  • battery operated pillar candle
  • black construction paper for the eyes
  • paint can
  • white fabric

DIRECTIONS

Using black construction paper, cut 2 eyes out. Tape them to your cloche. Get your paint can and put your cloche base on top of it. Then add your LED candle and your glass dome that has the eyes. Drape your fabric over your cloche and style the excess so that it drapes and billows at the ends. I also recommend tearing the ends for a spooky effect. That's it!

I was lucky and had all of the things that I needed on hand, but if you don't then that's OK! I have everything you need linked down below!

I finished the mantel with black garland, fairy lights, a couple of LED candles and my absolute FAVORITE new purchase this year: these BEAUTIFUL crystal spiderwebs. I am absolutely in love with them. They were designed to look like spider webs that collected have early morning dew drops that I usually come across during early morning autumn walks. These spider webs add a touch of magic that I am crazy for.

After the Halloween mantel was complete, I felt the bed needed a little spookiness so I simply draped two black creepy cloths above the bed and added a few white butterflies. I feel this added just the right amount of sophisticated spookiness.  I use creepy cloth A LOT in my home during Halloween. It's so inexpensive and provides much more drama compared to the fake spider webs.

Now that the primary bedroom is done for Halloween, I'm off to decorate the next area of my home which will probably be another one of the bedrooms. Stay tuned!
