Updating The Master Bedroom With Simple Accessory Changes

SHOP THIS ROOM

When it comes to interiors it's no surprise to you that I'm a big believer in the power of accessories. Home accessories create ambiance, style and makes a space feel personal and finished. Home accessories also have the power to transform a room without having to spend a lot of money. Our master bedroom for instance, needed a quick dose of style. Before I made the changes, I felt that the bedroom lacked style. There was no pattern, no art, ho-hum lighting and because of that, to me the room looked flat. There wasn't much interest or dimension in the space.

For this master bedroom update I changed just the accessories and wow, what a difference did that make. It all started with the bedding when I came across a beautiful black and white duvet cover from Williams Sonoma. I fell in love with the different take on traditional toile pattern. Toile patterns usually depict a countryside scene or people enjoying a picnic but the toile pattern on this bedding has a more tropical vibe with palm trees, tropical foliage, elephants and tigers. Totally my vibe! Adding this patterned bedding to the room gave it much needed visual interest and movement.

Aside from the bedding, I also changed or added:

LIGHTING
ART
PLANTS
&
CURTAINS

I found these amazing vintage lamps on Facebook Marketplace for such a steal! The tree motif on the vase speaks so nicely to the bedding. I added a black chimney shade from Lamps Plus to really make them pop in the room. The palm leaf shadow boxes were DIY art I made that were inspired by an art piece I saw in pottery barn.  Of course, a room isn't complete without plants! I picked up an inexpensive cat palm for the floor and another small plant for my desk (sorry, don't know the name of it). I brought our poor money tree from downstairs and put it on my wife's desk. Hopefully it sprouts some new growth!

our solution to the samsung frame Tnt Mode"

*Our solution to the Samsung Frame TV: The 60% cheaper, 55" Samsung Crystal UHD 8 series. I like to use "ambient mode" which displays pictures you can upload, art from the TV gallery or simply have the screen "disappear" by having it display the wall behind it. At $499 I think it's a great value! You can find it HERE

I think the biggest change in the room were the addition of the curtains. We swapped the 84" sand-colored curtains for longer curtains in white and hung them close to the ceiling. This change definitely made the room look so much more grand and added tons of depth!  Just check out the before and after and see what a difference curtains can make!

I used 98" IKEA curtains hung on black rods with black curtain rings which allows the curtain panels to drape beautifully. If you want to know more about what I used and how I hung these curtains, check out this post HERE. I share everything!

Ever since I updated the master bedroom, I've been happily hanging out here. Isn't it crazy how one's surrounding can change your mood!?
