Summer Table Setting

If you have been following along with my posts, then you probably remember that I recently shared how to arrange a summer centerpiece for your home. If you haven't seen it and you want to, then click HERE.

Today I'm going to show you how I decorated my dinner table for a summer dinner party. This summer tablescape came about when I collaborated with Farah from Inspire Me Home Decor to share a tablescape on her Instagram. I thought it was the perfect opportunity to get creative!

I'm sure you've seen my striped "Eivor" throw blanket from Ikea all over my house; well I decided it would make an awesome tablecloth! Something about black and white stripes look so "summery" to me...

I think its because the stripes remind me of those old-fashioned bathing suits...

I knew I wanted to use natural materials that felt kind of tropical to me.
When I spotted these rattan trays (that are the perfect size to fit a table setting in)
I knew I had to use them on my table. I've never used trays for place mats before
but I have always had the thought of using them.

To the tray I added (in the following order)
1. Dinner plate
2. Salad plate
and from left to right
3. Salad fork
4. Fork
5. Knife (facing the plate)
6. Spoon
7. Napkin with napkin ring
8. Wine glass & water glass

Aside from the trays, one of my favorite finds were the napkins.
The black border on the napkins have a sort of ethnic look to it
that I think adds to the tropical or "traveled look" of the table.
I added my vintage Thai silverware that I love so much to finish
 the setting.

For a place card holder I used pieces of coral that broke off one of
my existing pieces. Many times shell shops have broken pieces for
sale at very reasonable prices.

To finish my summer table, I added some cool faux succulents in
my collection of amber colored vases. I placed them across the
table along with some LED candles.

And there it is! A nice summer table setting for you and your
 guests to enjoy!
